Ephraim Laor, piano

Ephraim Laor was born in Tel Aviv. He received his M. Mus. with honors from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, USA, were he studied piano with Leon Fleisher on special scholarship from the Israel National Council for the Culture and the Arts. Leon Fleisher has had the greatest influence on his approach and musical thinking.
Mr. Laor was among the few chosen to play for Maestro Artur Rubinstein at the Jerusalem Music Center. He also played for such prominent artists as Gina Bachauer, Murray Perahia, Claude Frank, Georgy Sebok and others.
Mr. Laor holds a B. Mus. suma cum laude from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where he studied piano with Benjamin Oren, Yahli Wagman, and Sonia Valin, and won scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation as well the Academy.
He performs extensively, in Europe, North America, Brazil and Israel, where he also recorded for the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.
A former piano faculty at the Peabody Conservatory Preparatory Department (1980-1990), Mr. Laor currently teaches at the l'Ecole Nationale de Musique d'Issy-les-Moulineaux. Mr. Laor lives in Paris.
