The official opening ceremony of the Edward Aldwell Center was held on Decemober 21, 2008 at the Wise Auditorium, Givat Ram. As part of the ceremony, Maestro Murray Perahia, Honorary President of the EAC, was awarded the title of Honorary Fellow of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
The event was attended by Mrs. Jean Ann Aldwell, Maestro and Mrs. Naomi Perahia, Prof. Carl Schachter,
Mr. Younes Nazarian, Head of the Board of Governors of JAMD, Mr. Yair Green, Head of the Board of Directors of JAMD, Prof. Ilan Schul, President of JAMD, Mrs. Lea Agmon, Artistic Director of the EAC, and many distinguished guests, among them teachers, students, and friends of the Academy and the Conservatory.
The opening ceremony was followed by a piano recital by Ms. Sonia Rubinsky.
